Breaking Down Fences: The Importance of Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace
    Presented by Glynnis Klinefelter Sio
Employee & Labor Relations Manager, Olympic College

HRCI and SHRM approved credits available

In times of change and transition, a diverse workplace with equity minded leadership is of paramount importance.  Diverse workforces tend to have better relationships with their customers, demonstrate greater innovation and creativity, efficient team dynamics, and increased rates of employee retention.  This interactive session will discuss research on diversity initiatives and guide participants on developing a checklist of best practices with recruitment and employee engagement efforts to foster an inclusive work environment.

Glynnis Klinefelter Sio is a Filipino-American HR professional with fifteen years of experience in higher education.  She currently works at Olympic College as the Employee & Labor Relations Manager, specializing in workplace and Title IX investigations, contract interpretation and administration, and labor relations.  Last year, she represented Olympic College as a member of the Social Justice Leadership Institute, an organization focused on developing culturally responsive social justice leaders in higher education.  Glynnis has an MS in Higher Education Administration and a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with most of her work and research focused on serving underserved and historically marginalized populations. She is a mother of two and enjoys dancing with her Polynesian dance troupe at local cultural events.
